Without realizing it, I had begun to congratulate myself on my walk with the Lord, on my consistenct and discipline. At just that point the Lord spoke to me as clearly as if He were speaking in an audible voice. He said to me, "Do not rejoice in your commitment to the Lord Jesus-rejoice in the Lord Jesus Himself. If you rejoice in your commitment to Jesus, it will lead you into self-righteousness."
